Strength of a chimpanzee compared to a human12/13/2023 Therefore, it has been difficult to accurately compare strength between the two primates. Adult chimps are generally smaller than adult humans on average, the apes weigh about 100 lbs. This greater number of slow-twitch fibers may have evolved because it gave early humans the advantage of being able to travel long distances and forage, and allowed them to rely less on powerful movements for survival and fitness, O'Neill said.įor years, scientists have suspected that chimpanzees are more powerful than humans, but that suspicion was based largely on anecdotal evidence. "We can … do things like run marathons, unlike chimpanzees." As such, they inflict fewer stresses upon the skull, which can afford to abandon some of its sturdiness."Previous studies have shown that slow fibers are more fatigue resistant and less costly to contract than fast fibers," O'Neill said. But our jaw muscles can produce a strong bite through less effort than those of other primates. The jaw muscles attach to the skull and inflict stress upon it when they work. But the rest of our skull can afford to be comparatively flimsier. Our teeth are as tough as those of other primates because they still need to withstand the relatively high forces exerted by our bite. This explains some peculiar characteristics of our skulls. So not only is our bite very respectable, our jaw muscles need to exert considerably less force from to produce it. If all the jaw muscles clenched with the same force, our teeth would exert a bite force that’s at least 40% greater than any of the other primates, save the gibbon. We’re never going to bite with the sheer power of a Megalodon, or the predators that Wroe usually studies, but we’re no slouches when compared to closely related species.Īnd if you scale all the skulls to the same size, we suddenly become the leader of the pack. These forces are roughly what you’d expect for a primate of our size. Our second molars can exert a bite force between 1,100 and 1,300 Newtons, beating the orang-utan, gibbon and Australopithecus but lagging behind the gorilla, chimp and Paranthropus. The results revealed that human skulls, far from being weak, are quite tough and unusually efficient for their size. The blue regions are those under the least amount of stress, while the red, pink and white regions are enduring the highest stresses. The images below show an example of these virtual models, displaying the forces that act upon the skulls as they chomp down on the second molar. All of the skulls came from adult females. The technique is commonly used by engineers to test the properties of machines and vehicles, but Wroe uses it to put animal skulls through a ‘digital crash-test’.įor good measure, Wroe also digitised the skulls of six other primates – the gorilla, chimpanzee, orang-utan and white-handed gibbon, and two extinct species, Australopithecus africanus and Paranthropus boisei. He used his signature technique, called finite element analysis, to create a virtual model of a human skull (belonging to a San hunter-gatherer). To really understand how strong our mandibles are, we need to add that third dimension to the models. Of course, in real life, we chew in three glorious dimensions. The notion of weak human chops was based on very unrefined models that treated our jaws as two-dimensional levers. They’re actually remarkably efficient for a primate. But according to Wroe, all of these explanations have a fatal flaw – our jaws aren’t weak at all. Some have even suggested that our weedy jaw muscles made way for our large brains and thus facilitated their evolution. Some have suggested that we are adapted to eat foods that aren’t very tough, or that our use of tools and cooking has lessened the evolutionary pressure on maintaining sturdy jaws. Humans, it is said, have relatively weak jaws that can’t inflict or withstand high bite forces. Now, he has turned his attention to a predator whose skull is far less impressive but yields surprises all the same – us. His group at the University of New South Wales have studied the strength, sturdiness and biting power of the sabre-toothed cat, the great white shark, and the Komodo dragon. Stephen Wroe has built a career out of analysing some of the planet’s most formidable skulls.

Accurate time clock in recorded video12/13/2023 To avoid this, a 'bit clock' is transmitted with the audio data to ensure that the receiver remains in sync with the transmitter and recovers each data bit correctly. The danger is that the receiving device could lose track of when each data bit stops and the next begins, potentially resulting in corrupted data values being received. As binary data, each bit can be either a zero or a one, and it is quite possible for several consecutive bits to have the same binary value. This is used in serial data interfaces like AES3, S/PDIF and ADAT, where there is basically only one 'conduit' over which to pass the audio data: each data bit belonging to a single audio sample is passed one after the other, followed by the bits for the next audio sample, and so on. There are other kinds of clock too, the most important one being the 'bit clock'. These timing variations are referred to as 'jitter', whereas a long‑term timing variation of the overall clock rate is called 'drift'. If the timing variations are random, the result is effectively added noise, whereas if the variations are periodic, additional atonal (intermodulation) artifacts can be added to the signal. The diagram opposite Short‑term timing variations between one clock period and the next can result in a distorted waveform.shows how short‑term timing variations between one clock period and the next can result in a distorted waveform. This, in turn, will result in distortion, so clock timing accuracy is critical in maintaining audio quality. If the clock timing varies, the audio samples will potentially be captured (recorded) or reconstructed (replayed), or both, at the wrong time. At its simplest, then, the clock identifies when each sample should be recorded or replayed - and we call that a 'word clock' - but in practice, it often also provides other useful information, such as identifying each encoded audio channel in multi-channel systems. The clock provides that timing information and allows the waveform to be reconstructed as an analogue signal correctly when required (assuming the sample rate is more than twice the highest frequency component of the audio signal being sampled). Why do we need clocks? The simple answer is that to digitise a continuous analogue audio signal, it must be sampled at precise and regularly repeating intervals. I'm often asked how different devices should be clocked together, and whether a master clock unit of some kind will improve the overall performance of a digital system, so in this article I'll explain the basics of clocking and test some popular master clock units. Can an external clock signal really improve the performance of your digital audio devices? We put seven of the best master clocks through their paces to sort out the facts from the myths.ĭigital audio clocking is a topic that almost everyone involved in recording has heard of, but that few really understand.

Mad max 2 dog12/13/2023 The settlers are about to confiscate Max's car and cast him out of their compound when the marauders return to parley. He rescues Nathan, the sole survivor of one car, and strikes a deal to return him to the complex in exchange for fuel, but the man dies shortly after Max gets him back, and the leader of the settlers, Papagallo, says the deal died with Nathan. The next day, Max witnesses several cars leave the besieged compound and get chased down by marauders. They arrive during the daily attack on the facility by a motley motorised gang, whose members include Wez. Max overpowers the man with his dog's help, sparing his life in return for being led to a working oil refinery the pilot has discovered. Later, Max tries collecting an apparently abandoned gyrocopter's fuel, but is ambushed by the pilot. He steals some gasoline from the wrecked vehicles of one of his pursuers and inspects a wrecked semi-trailer and prime mover. He outmaneuvers a small group of marauders led by the unhinged biker Wez using his driving skills and a sawed-off shotgun. Now, former policeman Max Rockatansky, haunted by the death of his family, drives his supercharged black V-8 Pursuit Special around the desert wilderness of Australia, scavenging for food and petrol with his Australian Cattle Dog. Preceded by Mad Max in 1979, the film was followed by Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome in 1985 and Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015.Īfter a global war resulted in widespread oil shortages and ecocide, civilization collapsed, and the world descended into barbarism. Mad Max 2 is widely hailed as both one of the greatest action movies of all time and one of the greatest sequels ever made, and fan clubs for the film and "road warrior"-themed activities continue into the 21st century. At the 10th Saturn Awards, the film won Best International Film and was nominated for five more awards: Best Director, Best Actor for Gibson, Best Supporting Actor for Bruce Spence, Best Writing, and Best Costumes for Norma Moriceau. It was also a box office success, and the film's post-apocalyptic and punk aesthetics helped popularise the genre in film and fiction writing. The film was released on 24 December 1981 to widespread critical acclaim, with particular praise given to Gibson's performance, the musical score, cinematography, action sequences, costume design and sparing use of dialogue. Filming took place in locations around Broken Hill, in the Outback of New South Wales. The film's tale of a community of settlers moved to defend themselves against a roving band of marauders follows an archetypical " Western" frontier movie motif, as does Max's role as a hardened man whose decision to assist the settlers helps him rediscover his humanity. It is the second installment in the Mad Max franchise, with Mel Gibson reprising his role as "Mad" Max Rockatansky. Mad Max 2 (released as The Road Warrior in the United States) is a 1981 Australian post-apocalyptic dystopian action film directed by George Miller.

Assault Rifles are usually the most popular weapons in any Call Of Duty title. With several Automaton blueprints to choose from, the best one to get your hands on is Venom which features a bright yellow body alongside a detailed cobra on the stock of the rifle. More Loadouts: Best Type 100 Vanguard Loadout. With completely silent movement, patrol a specific area of the map and catch any opposition off-guard with ease. Field UpgradeĪlthough it's still relatively tricky to hear the footsteps of enemy players, we've still opted for Dead Silence to guarantee moving around the map with nobody managing to determine your location. Pop the stim for an instant health regeneration to stay in the fight for longer. Stim is also an essential pick, especially in Assault and Blitz combat pacing matches where there is non-stop action. Gammon Bombs are hugely underrated in Vanguard multiplayer thanks to their ability to explode as soon as they touch a surface, whether it's the ground or a nearby enemy. With the attachments already providing significant mobility increases, the addition of this Perk further increases movement speed, making it much easier to contend with submachine gunners in those hectic close-quarters battles. The third and final Perk we went for is Lightweight. With a 15% reduction in damage from explosives, the likelihood of surviving the impact of a grenade is much higher thanks to this particular Perk.įor the second Perk, Radar is a sure-fire pick in order to spot enemies firing unsuppressed weaponry on the minimap. PerksĮven with the arrival of a Trophy System in Vanguard, the chances of being hit by a grenade are extremely high which is why we've opted with Fortified in the Perk 1 slot. As well as the best Perks, choosing Equipment and a Field Upgrade to complement your style of play is hugely important in order to build the best Automaton loadout. + 2 The Best Automaton Vanguard Perks and EquipmentĪlong with a fully-equipped Automaton, selecting a strong Perk combination is another way to further your impact during a match. Attaching this will stop you from reloading after every elimination. Speaking of fire rate, selecting the Sakura 75 Round Mags is a no-brainer as the standard magazine only comes with 25 bullets in the clip. The likes of the Polymer Grip and the Tight Grip Proficiency provide accuracy boosts when firing for a prolonged period of time, which is ideal considering the immense rate of fire. This particular combination of attachments is a slight modification of a build being used by a number of professional players in the Call of Duty League. After experimenting with a number of different selections in multiplayer, we eventually settled on this build which dominates in close and mid-range engagements. Thanks to a reimagined Gunsmith, you can select up to ten attachments onto a single gun, meaning there are limitless combinations to provide various improvements to the Automaton. Best Automaton Attachments in COD Vanguard Its fire rate often sets it apart from other offerings in the category but the lack of long-distance firepower is often a deciding factor. The Automaton is available to players as soon as they hit Level 8, meaning it's one of the very first ARs to unlock in Vanguard multiplayer.

Marine eddie ray routh12/13/2023 She called police, who later located Routh sitting in front of his home in the truck. About 45 minutes later, authorities say Routh pulled up to his sister’s home in Kyle’s truck and told her he had killed two people. I took care of business, and then I got in the truck and left,” Routh said in the phone call.Ī resort employee discovered the bodies of Kyle and Littlefield about 5 p.m. “That’s what got me all riled up.”ĭefense attorneys said Routh, who had been prescribed anti-psychotic medication often used for schizophrenia, believed the men planned to kill him. You shoot,” Routh said in the phone call. “Are you gonna shoot? Are you gonna shoot? It’s a shooting sport. Randall Price said Routh had a paranoid disorder made worse by his use of alcohol and marijuana, calling his condition “cannabis-induced psychosis.”ĭefense attorneys noted that Kyle had described Routh as “straight-up nuts” in a text message to Littlefield as they drove to the luxury resort.Īmong evidence entered by prosecutors was a recorded phone call between Routh and a reporter from The New Yorker magazine in which Routh said he was annoyed Littlefield wasn’t shooting, but instead seemed to be watching him. Family members say Routh suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder from serving in Iraq and in Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake.Ī forensic psychologist testified for prosecutors that Routh was not legally insane and suggested he may have gotten some of his ideas from television. 2, 2013, after Routh’s mother asked Kyle to help her troubled son. Kyle and Littlefield had taken Routh to the shooting range at Rough Creek Lodge and Resort on Feb. If found not guilty by reason of insanity, the court could have initiated proceedings to have him committed to a state mental hospital. Jurors had three options: find Routh guilty of capital murder, find him not guilty, or find him not guilty by reason of insanity. While trial testimony and evidence often included Routh making odd statements and referring to insanity, he also confessed several times, apologized for the crimes and tried to evade police.Ĭriminal law experts said the verdict hinged on whether the defense could prove Routh was insane and did not know the killings were wrong at the time they were committed. The prosecution painted Routh as a troubled drug user who knew right from wrong, despite any mental illnesses. Since prosecutors didn’t seek the death penalty in the capital murder case, the 27-year-old receives an automatic life sentence without parole in the deaths of Kyle and Kyle’s friend, Chad Littlefield. The trial of Eddie Ray Routh has drawn intense interest, in part because of the blockbuster film based on former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle’s memoir about his four tours in Iraq. STEPHENVILLE, Texas - A former Marine was convicted Tuesday in the deaths of the “American Sniper” author and another man at a shooting range two years ago, as jurors rejected defense arguments that he was insane and suffered from psychosis.

For example, it easily takes more than 5GB memory with a handful of open files. I hoped MN could be more optimized for Mac, but seems this is not their focus. It supports epub, although I can give up this if the alternative works very well on other things.I also hope the notes can be exported in readable (and, better, open) format, but this is not very important for me. It saves notes separately, without changing the original PDF file.It supports iOS and Mac, with basically the same function.Multiple tabs (for multiple documents.).I also like the reading experience in MN: The notes/excerpts can be searched, and moreover in the collections defined above. The notes/excerpts can be collected/selected by color and user-defined tags. The notes can be associated to an excerpt of the original texts.I like the note-taking features in MN so much. I feel many others would share my needs, but strangely, I cannot find a single app alike. My needs can be summarized as: a stabler and robuster (and maybe cheaper) alternative to Marginnote (MN), focusing on note-taking, without mindmaps and study cards. Editready 2 transcode12/12/2023 Honestly, there's not much that I don't like about EditReady, all things considered. This feature is especially helpful for labeling which cameras individual clips came from (i.e. While we're on the subject of metadata, there's one other thing that EditReady excels at, and that's adding new metadata fields to every clip you've brought into the current batch. In that window, you can see and edit all of the metadata that already exists with the clip, and if you want, you can also add custom fields like camera angle, shot size, take number, or tons of other presets. If you want to view or edit the metadata of a clip, you can simply select the clip, go to the "Clip" menu, and select "Edit Metadata." Alternately, you can hit Command+2 to bring up the metadata screen. First of all, for how simple the program is, EditReady handles metadata extremely well, and offers enough flexibility to do just about anything that you might want to do with metadata from Quicktime files. Other than the speed and ease of use of EditReady, there are a few other things that set the program apart. The same cannot be said of Media Encoder, which seemingly turns the computer into a giant paperweight while the program is encoding. With that said, I felt like I could multitask with other programs while EditReady was encoding. Of course, that's just subjective observation as I wasn't measuring CPU or RAM usage during the encoding. Other than EditReady being faster than Media Encoder (and way more intuitive to use), it seemed to strain my computer less during the encoding process than did Media Encoder. However, I ran the clip through this test twice to make sure that the results were accurate, and sure enough, they were exactly the same the second time around. Obviously, this is an incredibly simple test, and it has its limitations in terms of really putting the performance of both softwares to the test.

Dont starve together wickerbottom and wx 7812/12/2023 Don’t Starve Characters Guide: The Only Character Guide You’ll Need - May 4, 2022.Best Dead by Daylight Memes - October 12, 2022.Subnautica Sea Emperor Guide - March 16, 2023.Best Survival Mechanics In Non-Survival Games. This is why WX-78 is one of my favourite characters to play as, offering good power and balanced play. This was my first attempt at adventure mode in a while, and after several stages, i found myself completing adventure mode and unlocking the character maxwell. After obtaining gears easily, i quickly progressed through the many stages of adventure mode, even killing deerclops with a log suit and tentacle spike in the chapter 3 'the game is afoot'. After countless trys at adventure mode as other characters without getting past world 1, i found maxwell's door in my WX-78 world. After getting past its low starting stats and obtaining gears, it can take on most enemies, bosses, and the new giants in the 'Reign of Giants' DLC. WX-78 is personally, one of my favourite and strongest characters to play as.This makes WX-78 a very strong character during adventure mode, as the constant supply of clockwork monsters in each world can max out its stats by world 2! Finding the wooden thing is the best supply of gears you can get, with 5 clockwork monsters that can be easily kited, you are looking at a max of 10 gears, enough to bring you up to 300 health, around 160+ hunger and 230+ sanity, a lot more than other characters such as Wolfgang and Wilson. As i mentioned before, gears are key to survival and finding some can make WX-78 stronger and make challenging fights much less harder. Another one of your tasks when starting a new world is to find a supply of gears.A log suit and a spear is key when attempting to fight as WX-78, as its low health can make harder fights challenging without the proper preparation and equipment. Approach fights with caution or just don't engage an enemy if it is not key to your survival. When starting a new world with WX-78, you should always remember your stat limitations. WX-78 is a character with a lot of abilties, benefits and drawbacks.Alternatively, an umbrella can be created to negate rain damage altogether. In the rain, WX-78 takes -1 damage every second or two, however, if sanity isn't your greatest concern, lightning (which commonly occurs during or at the end of a rainstorm) can grant a quite large health increase to balance this out. They are usually found around the wooden thing, but they are now more common in the don't starve reign of giants DLC (which is well worth the money for a ton of new content). With the proper equipment, they can be killed with WX-78's low stats, and they yield an impressive 2 gears per monster. Clockwork monster come in the form of a knight, a bishop and a rook. Digging up a grave with a shovel gives you a rough 3% chance of obtaining a gear, which isn't worth the -10 sanity drain from digging up the grave, but this is why clockwork monsters exist. tricky to say the least, but luckily there are many ways to obtain gears in don't starve. WX-78 starts off with a low 100 health, 100 hunger and 100 sanity, which is. With the ability to upgrade WX-78 to a high amount of stats, there obviously would be a disadvantage to the character. Eating the maximum amount of 15 provides the player with a massive 400 health, 200 hunger and 300 sanity. Each gear eaten provides an increase in roughly 20 health, 6-7 hunger, and 13-14 sanity. +When hit with lightning, becomes overloaded with electrical energy (begins to illuminate), and also gains a health boost, speed boost, and unfortunatley a -33 sanity loss. +Can eat any stale or spoiled food without health or sanity drawbacks that other characters would normally experience ( CAUTION-This does not mean an immunity to monster meat and other 'horrible' foods) There are many advantages and disadvantages to playing as this character. WX-78 is described as hating all living things and this is seen through his many in-game quotes. WX-78 is the fourth unlockable character and requires 960XP or the equivalent of survivng 48 days (you do not have to survive a full 48 day world and you can play multiple, shorter worlds to unlock it.

There are two primary varieties of green beans: Bush beans You can eat this plant while it is fresh, young, and tender, and when the seeds inside haven’t fully developed. In average, green beans pods are 4 to 6 inches (10 – 15 cm) long and can be flattened or round in shape. These prolific plants will thrive in your garden and make it even more beautiful, especially these days when you can choose between numerous colorful varieties.Įxcept for usual green, you can plant streaked, yellow, purple, and red beans as well. This plant is easy to grow in almost every place, including minimal ones. Occasionally an insecticide or fungicide may be needed to control insects and disease problems. No matter what type of green beans you choose, you will grow them without too many complications. Most of these problems can be prevented or controlled by using sound cultural practices and planting resistant varieties. Disease issues include anthracnose, rust, powdery mildew and grey mold. Insect problems include leaf beetles, aphids and spider mites. Beans should be stored in a cool, dry location and kept fresh for several days, or they can be canned for long-term storage.Īlthough green beans are easy to grow, there are a few problems that can occur. To encourage the plant to maintain production, continue to harvest beans as they become ready. This will produce a bean that is tastier and tenderer. Harvest beans while they are still immature and not fully developed. Green beans should be ready for harvest 45 to 60 days after planting, depending on the variety. Water as needed after beans become established, usually about twice a week. Reduce watering to once every three days after the first week. Keep the seed bed moist, but not soggy, for the first week until germination occurs. Irrigate beans immediately after planting. Additional fertilizer can be applied throughout the growing season to keep beans producing until the summer heat takes its toll. Fertilizer should be applied at planting time and again after small beans begin to appear. In the absence of a soil test, add 5 pounds of 5-10-15 fertilizer per 100 feet of row. Soil test for a more accurate recommendation of lime and fertilizer needs. Green beans prefer a slightly acidic soil with a pH of approximately 6.5. Green beans are legumes and don?t require a lot of fertilizer. This will help ensure good soil contact and better germination. After planting, be sure to firm the seed bed with your hand, garden tool or cultipacker. Most green beans do best when planted about 1 inch deep and 6 inches apart in the rows with 3 feet between the rows. Soaking seeds overnight in warm water will help speed up the germination process after they are planted in the soil. Green beans can be directly seeded in the garden and do not need to be started as transplants. They should receive six to eight hours or more of sunlight every day for optimum growth. Green beans grow best in a well-prepared and organically amended soil. Half-runners can be grown without support but they spread out more than bush beans and need plenty of room to grow. Half-runner beans are a cross between pole beans and bush beans. An advantage of pole beans is that they are easier to harvest you don?t have to bend over completely to pick them like you do bush beans. Pole beans can reach heights of 6 feet or more, so the support system should be strong and high enough to accommodate them. Pole beans are similar to bush beans but grow in a vining manner and require some type of cage or trellis system for support. They are great for raised beds and gardens limited in space. Bush beans are compact varieties that grow in a bush form and need no external support. Green beans come in three different types based on their growing characteristics. Air temperatures above 85☏ can cause flowers to drop and slow production. Soil temperatures should be at least 55☏ for good seed germination. Green beans grow best when air temperatures range from 65☏ to 85☏. Green beans are a warm season crop that can be planted as soon as the danger of frost has passed in the spring.
